creating a live CD with MIC files fails
I'm confused what file to download to make it work from a CD I want to boot to the CD drive and try it without touching my original operating system. You can easily tell if you've done it right - simple mount the CD - if there is only one file on the disk, that is not right and it won't work - you should see

Depending on which password you use for mounting, TrueCrypt will mount either the "outter", or the "inner" volume as a new drive. If you are ever forced to reveal your password you can use the password to the "outter" volume, keeping the Sbox installation hidden. For more info please see the TryeCrypt manual.

Question
I made a petition on one HD to load OS 9 for Classic if needed. By holding down the "C" key it starts to load the install but stops at a blue screen. I then copied the cd to a HD and tried from there with the same results. Gave up. Why did the cd mount before and not now? Norm On Feb 16, 9:03 am, Ray <rfy.

However, if you have a floppy you do not need you can buy another External USB card (not PCI) and mount it up front ripping off the floppy drive. Every couple if minutes i get a warning saying "Windows needs to install driver software for your Unknown Device" even though nothing new has been put in.

External Hard Drive
I think I'll install a new solo drive, which should just become the C drive, and clone the partition over to it. RAID isn't really reliable enough anyway, at least not in my experience. I think BootItNG will do it though and you can download a trial so you don't have to buy anything you don't want to.

I wanted to install W2K on the STATA HD, a 320G WS SATA drive. I had some fun trying to get to a point where the OS install asked how I wanted to I had mounted it safely, I thought, on the IDE controller thinking an install would choose the SATA master. Not so. Let me say, charitably, the contents of the 80G HD

To recover from this sort of failure, you have to do a fresh re-install, not a rescue. And/or restore from a disk backup. If you do have a proper full backup that you can access from the rescue system, you have to *manually* mount the root file system (/) of your system and then restore this backup to there.

That's not always the case -- Rocks is much heavier on the memory system than the standard OS install. You need to check the memory on your system. You may need to take a slotted screwdriver and pop out a metal cover in an unused bay before you can install something there. Some cases have this. Once you have set the jumper properly, mounted the drive and connected the cables, connect your monitor, keyboard, mouse, power, etc. and fire the system up.

Oh, one question: anybody know if there're fans you can install on the front of a couple of external 3.5" bays (so I can install HDDs there instead of having to mount it in 5.25" bays with standard drive coolers)? Two 3.5" bays in a column (2"+ high?) should be enough space to install, say, two fans side by side?
